WELCOME to Shine Special Needs Ministry!

At First Baptist, we are committed to loving and caring for children and adults with special needs. We believe each of them are special to God because they are created in his own image and likeness. At Shine and Shine Jr., we provide a safe and fun environment where these individuals receive special care, participate in activities that reflect their unique needs, and hear the good news about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection.

Shine is for adults with special needs and takes place during both Sunday School and the worship service. Shine Jr. is for minors and happens during the 9:00 Sunday School hour.

Shine Jr. is for preschool & elementary age that cannot be integrated in regular classrooms.  

We also offer an inclusion program for those just needing a little help but able to attend a typical classroom setting.

Where do I go?

Each Sunday morning we meet in the West Building on the corner of Laura and Ashley Streets. Handicap parking is available right outside the West Building on Ashley Street for those who attend our Special Needs Ministry. We would love to welcome you! 

What does the Bible say about disabilities?

Understanding what Scripture says about disabilities and how God regards individuals affected by disability is an important piece of any disability ministry (Psalm 139:13-16; 1 Corinthians 12:21-25; John 9:1-3; Luke 14:12-14; 2 Samuel 9).
