Scott (Ph.D., The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) loves the privilege of leading worship for the greatest singing church in the Southern Baptist Convention. Before coming to First Baptist in 2017, he was a professor of worship leadership at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, where he served a variety of churches in worship leadership. He has also served in various pastoral roles at churches in Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, Kentucky, and Indiana. He has been a minister of music/youth, worship pastor, teaching pastor, Christian school principal, church planter, and senior pastor.
He is passionate about worshiping Jesus and leading others to experience his splendor and glory in corporate worship. He wants people to know the beauty and life-giving experience of authentic worship and relationship with Jesus Christ through the power of the gospel. He is passionate about his wife, Mary, and their 7 children-Caleb, Isaac, Samuel, Noah, Jonathan, Grace, and Phinehas (yes, 6 boys and 1 girl!).
He loves serving at First Baptist Church and living in Jacksonville, FL. He is adamant that the best thing about this church is the people. There is no better group of people to love God with and serve one another (especially the choir and orchestra).
