A Six-Part Class on Suffering

A Class to Help You Endure with Hope

Suffering has a way of taking big questions and making them intensely personal.

Some seasons of pain arrive slowly. Others show up suddenly through a diagnosis, a fractured relationship, a financial crisis, or a crushing disappointment. And when suffering comes close, it often brings more than grief. It can bring confusion, fear, temptations, and pain.

This class is designed to help people who are currently hurting, and also to prepare those who know they will face hardship someday. Each session is both pastoral and practical, grounded in Scripture, honest about the heaviness of real life, and aimed at helping you take the next faithful step.

What the Class is About

The Bible gives us a clear framework for understanding suffering:

  • Suffering is universal, but it is also deeply personal.

  • Suffering is a result of the fall of mankind.

  • Grief and “groaning” are often the proper response to a broken world.

  • Christians have hope because Jesus entered into suffering on our behalf and will one day bring it to an end.

  • The Bible gives us practical ways to pray during our times of pain.

Across six sessions, the class helps viewers think biblically about suffering and respond wisely in the middle of it.

Questions This Class Helps You Answer

  1. What do I do when suffering feels overwhelming and personal?

  2. Where does suffering come from, and what does it say about God?

  3. Is it okay to grieve? What about “groaning”?

  4. What should I pray when I do not have words?

  5. How do I stay watchful and resist temptation in suffering?

  6. Where is Jesus in the middle of all this?
