English as a Second Language is a church-based English language ministry. We provide conversational English classes for non and low-proficient English-speaking residents.
ESL Learner Classes
Downtown
Campus
- Class: Foundations (speak no English) and Beginning. The instructor will place each participant at the appropriate level.
- Sunday Nights beginning August 24th
- Location: West Building Third Floor
- Price: $15 per person for materials
Nocatee
Campus
- Class: The Nocatee campus offers an English as a Second Language Bible class, which is an intermediate to advanced class for non-native English speakers who would like to improve their English using the Bible as the text.
- When: Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30pm
- Cost: No cost for materials
ESL Volunteer Classes
Teacher & Hospitality Training Class
Volunteer training dates:
- August 3, 6:15PM – 7:15PM (Informational meeting and beginning of NAMB training)
- August 23, 8:00AM – 3:00PM (NAMB ELS training)
- Volunteer Training Fee: $30 (for materials and lunch at August 23 training)
If you are interested in volunteering to teach ESL, you will be required to become NAMB certified. We will begin the NAMB training during the second half of the August 3rd meeting and then have a full day of training on Saturday, August 23rd. Lunch will be provided on Saturday, August 23rd. Both trainings are required for certification. Please email esl@fbcjax.com if you have any questions.
Interested volunteers do not need to register or pay, only NAMB ESL training participants need to register and pay.
