WELCOME to First Students Downtown!

Our Student Ministry, First Students, consists of middle school and high school students from across the city who connect with faithful adult mentors and teachers that help them learn God’s Word and discover His desires for their life. First Students is built around three key programs: Sunday School Life Groups, Student Worship, and MDWK (Mid-Week).

Our mission is to be reaching all of Jacksonville, with all of Jesus, for all of life by inviting students to live in Christ, with His community, through Gospel-focused discipleship.

Sunday Mornings, 9:00 AM, 4th Floor, East Building

Middle School and High School Sunday School is a place where your student will gather with other students in their age group to study, fellowship, and mature in their faith. The Bible Study portion has two parts that are designed to be interactive. The first is a group lesson and the second is a life group which does a deep dive into the Bible passage and gives students the ability to ask questions.

FAQ’s

How do I volunteer as a leader for First Students?

The leaders of First Students work to see students holy, joyful, and ready for the next chapter of life. If you are interested in becoming a leader, email our Next Gen Pastor, Trevor Komatsu, at Trevork@fbcjax.com.

How do I join Student Worship?

At First Baptist, our Middle School and High School students have multiple opportunities to express their love for Jesus Christ through worship. Musically, these include participation in both vocal and instrumental solos and ensembles, choir, orchestra, seasonal ministry teams and other special performance appearances. The culmination of preparation and training is most frequently seen when our students lead in worship on select Sunday evenings and by way of other events such as our annual mission tour. Please feel free to contact us for more information about how you can be involved in this exciting ministry! Contact Savannah Lewis, Administrative Support to Student Worship, at SavannahL@fbcjax.com.
