Prison Ministry Outreach

Our church has maintained a prison ministry for over 50 years, serving weekly at Union Correctional Institute and Florida State Prison. Our men provide substance abuse counseling, discipleship, and gospel-sharing events as we seek to make disciples among the incarcerated. We also offer opportunities to serve at the Duval County and St. Johns County jails. We invite you to join us in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those in prisons and jails.

Testimonies

“Pastor… I want to thank you so much for your weekly visits to UCI. God has used you to disciple me into a ‘true man of God’ as you have invested so much time and effort into us. Thank you for investing in us who are forgotten by so many others in our lives and showing us the compassion of Christ and helping us to remember that He has not forgotten us and we have a ministry that He has called us to right here in prison reaching others with the Gospel!”

– B.T., UCI Inmate

“It is a joy to serve men who are incarcerated in our Florida Department of Corrections institutions and also our county jails. God has given us these places to share the gospel with men who have been forgotten by society and placed in places where families, many times, don’t care about them. We are able to share the gospel with them, teach them the Bible, disciple them, and even provide Biblical counseling on Substance abuse to them. When we’re all together and traveling to the institutions we can even disciple one another and “iron can sharpen iron.” The inmates don’t have to continue being “stuck” in their sin – Jesus can deliver them and enable them to walk with Him as they follow Christ every remaining day of their lives.”

“Many people believe that Jesus can only find us at church or a church related event. Did you know that Jesus finds people that are in the darkest corners of a prison? That’s where he found me! Next year when I get out, after 15 years of incarceration, I want to find those I wronged and thank them. I did them wrong and sinned against them, but God used my wrong doing to put me in the place Jesus found me and saved me as resident of the Faith based dorm and the ministry he has called your church to! ‘Amazing Grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!'”

“God has used our men at FSP and Duval County Jail this year. We have seen men pray a prayer of repentance and confession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. We have ministered to gang members, drug addicts, and even a young Hispanic man who was a Pastor’s son, who had tried to commit suicide and had scars on his wrists. This young man responded to the Gospel, repented of his sins and surrendered to Jesus. He flushed his bag of drugs down the toilet and said, “I’m never going back.” We’ve been discipling him the past couple of months as he is growing in Christ and faithfully serving the Lord.”

“I have been truly blessed to witness firsthand how God’s grace is transforming the lives of men that are incarcerated at Union Correctional Institution. This ministry provides a very unique opportunity to carry God’s word behind prison walls to men, most of which have been totally forgotten and abandoned by friends and family. I have witnessed hearts soften, and hope restored by sharing the love of Jesus in a place that is not available to most. It is through this ministry that I’ve grown in compassion, faith and love for men that are lost and forgotten. As many of us in the Prison ministry say, ‘There but for the Grace of God, go I'”.
