At First Baptist, we work very hard in developing programs and opportunities that will help followers of Christ, regardless of age, grow in their spiritual lives.

Classes @ Downtown

No classes on January 31st.

Twelve Ordinary Men
David Wiggins
Lindsay Building
Room 307

Description:
What is most amazing about the disciples is that Jesus ever selected them at all:  among them a handful of common fishermen, a hated tax collector, and an impulsive political zealot.  When you take a fresh look at the disciples, you'll be faced with a stunning fact:  The men the Savior chose were ordinary.  Hopelessly human.  Remarkably unremarkable.  But they were available and obedient to the Master's call.  And under Jesus' teaching and touch, they became a force that forever changed the world.

Becoming a Titus 2 Woman
Vistoria Lewis
Lindsay Building
Room 404

Description:

Much is said and written today about mentoring.  A mentor is a guide, a teacher, a counselor, an advisor; all words that apply to the Titus 2 woman.  Becoming a Titus 2 Woman is a tool to train older women to successfully mentor younger women.  This includes many examples of how to disciple younger women.  It is practical in its approach as it teaches how, by God's grace, we develop the character that God wants every older woman to have.

Breaking Free
Beth Moore (video)
Lindsay Building
Room 403

Description:
Breaking Free is Beth Moore's life message about freedom in Christ.  Thousands of women have journeyed with Beth through Breaking Free.  Now enjoy her updated study along with new teaching video sessions recorded in New Orleans.  Join Beth Moore on a Bible journey unlike any other.  Through Scripture you will discover the transforming power of Christian freedom.  God intends for you to know and believe Him, glorify Him, experience His peace, and enjoy His presence.

Revolutionary Parenting
Middle School Building Basement

Description:
The Revolution is underway, but in this new era, how can parents make a lasting impact in the spiritual lives of their children? To find the answer, George Barna researched the lives of thriving adult Christians and discovered the essential steps their parents took to shape their spiritual lives in childhood. He also learned surprising truths about which popular parenting tactics just aren't working. Revolutionary Parenting goes beyond youth group and Sunday school and shows parents how to instill in their children a vibrant commitment to Christ.

Creation Apologetics
David Ramseur
Lindsay Building
Room 306

Description:
Why should we trust the Bible about Heavenly things if we can't trust the Bible when it speaks of about Earthly things (John 3:12).  This class is to help you reconnect the Biblical Salvation Message with science covering geology, astronomy and biology.  In this class you will learn how to be a logical apologetic witness in defending God's Truth  as found in the Bible.

Wednesday Nights

Self Confrontation
Rush Witt
Lindsay Building
Room 401
Part 1 begins Jan. 6 (12 weeks)
6:30 - 7:45pm

Description:

The Self-Confrontation study is designed with two purposes in mind:

To help you experience victory and contentment in all of life's trials and problems by approaching relationships and circumstances from a biblical perspective, and
To prepare you to help others face, deal with, and endure their problems biblically

The 105 biblical principles contained in the Self-Confrontation study, based solely on the promises and authority of God in the Old and New Testaments, provide guidance for living a victorious life.
Each lesson is designed, first, to explain the meaning of specific biblical principles, and then to incorporate them into your life through practical homework assignments.

The Self-Confrontation study includes biblical teaching on areas such as preoccupation with self, anger, bitterness, relationships, depression, fear, worry, and more. It is designed to be a continuing reference for facing, dealing with, and enduring all problems of life.

Crown Financial
Administration Building
5th Floor
Orientation: Jan. 6 (6:30pm)
Class: January 20 (5:30 - 7:30pm)
$25 for singles
$35 for couples

Description:
Many people believe that becoming financially free is learning how to create a spending plan and invest for the future, but that's only partially true.  The most important thing related to managing money is the attitude of the heart.  What is the heart choice behind the money decisions you make?  And, what is guiding your heart?  The Bible contains 2,350 verses dealing with money and possessions, and applying this timeless wisdom is the key to financial success.  Through this 10-week experience, the Crown Biblical Financial Study teaches practical and life-changing financial principles.
